Under the Elms: the place to be Cup Week

For over a century, the area between The Hill and the track was the vibrant centre of Flemington Racecourse. Once home to the original Birdcage horse stalls, the mounting yard, and the bustling betting ring, ‘under the elms’ was where crowds gathered, horses paraded, and Cup Day came to life. Henry Byron Moore’s vision for a stunning Flemington was realised beneath the shade of grand old trees, and it was here that Flemington’s race day spirit first took hold.
